Frequently Asked Questions, FAQ

How do I get started?

The first step involved in working with an interior designer is scheduling a consultation. During this meeting, you are able to discuss your goals, timeline, and budget. A professional interior designer will answer any questions you have about the process and our methods. From there, Roan Interiors will recommend the best design approach and outline the next steps for your project.

What type of projects does Roan Interiors handle?

Roan Interiors offers interior design services for a variety of spaces and project sizes. Whether you are updating a single room, remodeling an existing property, or building a new space from scratch, we approach every project with creativity and careful planning. Our team is also able to help with commercial spaces.  Great designs should solve problems while also reflecting your personal style or brand identity. Our services include residential interiors, commercial environments, custom furniture design, sensory-focused spaces, and support for remodeling projects. No two clients have the same goals, so every design is tailored to the unique needs of the individuals using that space.

Do you bill hourly or by the project?

We can bill either hourly or a flat rate depending on the project scope. Once we see your space and determine your needs and goals, we will discuss these options further.

When is the ideal time to hire an interior designer?

The ideal time to hire an interior designer is before major decisions have been made on a project. Working with a designer early allows you to create a clear vision before construction begins or before materials have been ordered. This helps reduce unnecessary expenses due to the need for aesthetic or functional changes to your space. It is never too late to bring in professional help, even if your project is already underway. Roan Interiors will step in at different stages to help refine designs, improve functionality, and create a cohesive look.

Can you work with my existing style and decor?

We can work with any style and taste so that your home feels like ‘you.’ Our job is to understand your personal style and elevate it. I will fit your design to your personality, style, and needs. Many clients also already own furniture, artwork, or family heirlooms that they want to keep; our team is aware of this, and we enjoy incorporating those meaningful pieces into a fresh design. Rather than starting from scratch, we will evaluate what you already have and determine how it can complement the overall vision.  Sometimes a familiar piece just needs a new location, updated upholstery, or carefully selected accessories. Mixing existing furnishings with stylish additions helps create a more curated, personal look than replacing everything at once. This approach also helps clients to stay within their budgets while preserving the character that makes the space unique.

What if I don’t know my design style?

You don’t need to have your design style figured out before reaching out to the Roan Interiors team. Many client’s know how they want their space to feel, but they struggle to implement that vision. Through conversations, inspiration images, and design presentations, our team helps you uncover the materials, colors, and styles that reflect your personality and lifestyle. As the design develops, you will have the opportunity to offer feedback at every stage; this helps make sure every space feels functional and authentic.

How will I be involved in the design process?

Your level of involvement in the design process is up to you. Some clients enjoy being a part of every selection and decision; others prefer to trust the expertise of their designer and take a more hands-off approach. We offer a collaborative experience that gives you the right amount of input without adding unnecessary stress to your schedule. You will have the opportunity to review concepts and discuss selections. Roan Interiors then managers the details, research, and coordination required to bring your vision to life.

Can you coordinate with my builder or contractor?

The Roan Interiors team is able to collaborate with contractors, builders, architects, and other professionals. Strong communication between team members is key to a successful, efficient design process. By working with your construction team, we are able to help answer design-related questions and offer guidance when decisions need to be made.

Is sensory interior design only for people with sensory disorders?

No, sensory interior design benefits anyone who wants a more comfortable and intentional environment. Design choices influence how we feel, work, rest, and connect with others. A thoughtfully designed space will help reduce distractions and improve functionality. It also allows clients to feel a stronger sense of calm. Roan Interiors takes individual needs into account when incorporating sensory design principles into a home or commercial space.

Can you help with just one room?

Yes, Roan Interiors works with projects of varying sizes, including individual room transformations. You do not need to redesign an entire property to benefit from professional design help. A single, carefully designed space can make a significant difference in how you experience your home or business.  Whether you want to update a kitchen, bathroom, bedroom, office, or another area, we will create a plan that fits your goals. Smaller projects still receive the same attention to detail as larger ones. Our focus is always on creating spaces that improve the way they look and function.

How long does an interior design project take?

The timeline for a business or home interior design project depends on several factors: the size of the space, complexity of the design, and availability of materials. A single-room update may take less time than a full home renovation. Because each project varies, our timelines are adjusted according to your needs, rather than following a fixed schedule. During each phase, our team will keep you apprised of updates or timelines, especially when furniture or materials are being outsourced or new features are built into a space.
